Visiting Delhi for the first time, are you?

If you are visiting my city Delhi for the first time, the one place I would suggest you to visit would be Chandni Chowk. This is because it is the only place where you can feel the true pulse of Delhi.

The first time you set foot in Chandni Chowk, you will be terrified by the heavily congested streets. The streets are so busy and overpacked that while maneuvering them, chances are high that you’ll be tightly clutching your money and passport inside your pocket, lest you get pickpocketed! But beneath the pandemonium lies another dimension of this place.

The busy market is host to major places of worship such as Muslim Jama Masjid and Sunehri Masjid, Hindu Gauri Shankar Temple, Sikh Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib and Christian Central Baptist Church. These various religious shrines give a fascinating glimpse of the cultural harmony that exists in India.

One of the speciality here is the big wholesale markets where thousands of people from various walks of life, be it a middle-class bookseller or a millionaire cloth merchant, come to do business without any discrimination of class or caste. If you are a food connoisseur, you’ll never forget the heavenly non-vegetarian at the world famous Karim?s or a literally huge assortment of Indian breads at the Paranthe ki Gali.
These unusual streets represent the true cultural diversity of India. The glimpses you get here are enough to make even experienced eyes stare in wonder.
